Why we chose this song

Gene chose this song because it’s his #1 favorite piece of music. In about 1960, Gene took Latin lessons from Jackie Saboro so he could sing the song in the Catholic Church, back when Mass was held in Latin. He was taught this song from Marie Brizalarro, the organist at St Giles Catholic Church in Oak Park, IL.

Song Lyrics

Pannis angelicus
Fit panis hominum
Dat panis coelicus
Figuris terminum
O res mirabilis
Manducat dominum

Pauper, pauper
Servus et humilis
Pauper, pauper
Servus et humilis

Te trina Deitas
unaque poscimus
Sic nos tu visita
sicut te colimus

Per tuas semitas
duc nos quo tendimus
Ad lucem quam inhabitas
Ad lucem quam inhabitas
